We all long for peace in our personal lives, in our communities, and on our planet. Our hearts break daily as we are confronted with the costs of the lack of peace in our world. The sacred teachings of all of the great spiritual traditions tell us that peace will not come from the outside but from within. Peace is a state of consciousness, a way of being, and when more people live and move and have their being in peace than in war, in love, rather than hate, in the realization that we are all one, rather than in seeing others as separate, there will be peace on earth.
Each of these stones began as clay in the palm of my hand that I inscribed as I prayed the famous and beloved prayer for peace attributed to St. Francis of Assisi. I made the stones to help remind myself that if I want peace in the world, then I need to practice peace in my daily life.
Say this peace prayer every day, as part of your morning meditation, and then select a stone at random to carry through the day as a touchstone to help you remember. Or choose a particular stone because you know what you want to practice that day. See a simple meditation to guide you more specifically in using the PeaceStonestm to focus your daily intention. If you will carry one with you, and use it to remind yourself throughout the day that you are choosing to be an instrument for peace in the world, you will increasingly become that. Whether you are out in the world everyday, or confined to your bed or a chair at home, your intention for peace and your peaceful heart change you, your environment, and our planet.
